HOW I STUDY THE BIBLE (BEST Note Taking + Highlighting Method for In-Depth Bible Journaling!)

A brief overview of my favorite way to study in my journaling Bible. I created this method in 2014 and wrote an ebook (Brighten Your Bible Study) that explains it alongside other study methods that I like to use.

This is by far my favorite way to study because while it feels creative and brightens up the page, the study is still intentional and not lost to the “art” aspect of Bible Journaling!

I suggest using this method with secondary resources like Blue Letter Bible, LOGOS+ Bible App, or a study Bible to help you understand the context, original Greek + Hebrew meanings of words, draw connections, and really get the most out of your study.

  1. I love that you said it’s not about the art it’s about the study! I love that. Your method focuses on the Word, and that’s how it should be. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Your bible can look all flashy and colorful but what about your life? He is looking for those who worship in spirit and in truth. Are we spending as much time in worship as we are coloring our bibles? We can make our bible an idol.

  3. I’m joining the sisterhood ? Sis you have no idea how much you’ve helped me. I felt hopeless until I ran into this video. ????

  4. Loved this video and how positive and genuine you are! You gained a new subscriber as well as a new member for the Sisterhood! I know you recommend the bible that you have linked. What do you think about the She Reads Truth bible? Im looking to purchase a new bible and Im not sure which one would be best 🙂

  5. I love that you emphasized making the Word come alive! That’s what its all about. Nicely done. May God bless your efforts.

  7. Never kiss your bible. It is a book. The Holy Spirit sometimes uses the bible to speak to you.

  8. I find the weird gel highlighters to be best because they’ll never bleed through at all 🙂
    Great video! Thanks!

  9. You charge people to learn to read the Bible through the sisterhood??? Smh. You’re doing exactly what Jesus taught against.

  10. This helped me so much. I don’t know why but I was scared to highlight my Bible but 3weeks into reading the Word my Bible I’ve highlight so MANY scriptures! The only specific color is blue which is a promise or obey/ something to live by. Like when it talks about Gods covenant to Abraham that’s in purple only purple and lime it talks about it in genesis and romans so i also put on the side where else i can find it ☺ If someone else would see my bible theyll be like you just go all out with the highlights but TBH i know what every highlight means. Thank you for making this video❤ God bless you

  11. Do you memorize scripture in a certain way? I think that’s what I’m trying to soak in more this year and not just reading and forgetting. The deep study like you mentioned really helps but I wanted to see if you have a method specifically for memorizing ☺️ if not that’s okay! This is awesome

  12. I commend you on the fact that you are studying, that is great, but you are studying, and encouraging others to study, an incorrect version. A version that has been corrupted by man, leaves important words out etc. Next study needs to be KJV vs other translations. You put a lot of work into learning from a man made book instead of a God inspired one.

  13. I love all the colors and notes, but I’d rather put it all in a devotional journal instead cause I would be so distracted by them (colors and notes) while trying just read the scriptures. But that’s just me. ? keep this up though, if it helps you to understand and study the Word of God.

  14. I love this!! I want to get that Bible now!! What size font this one? Is it the large print like in the link or is it 7.5?

  15. i don’t even have a bible, nor do i consider myself religious (besides going to church a few times a year), but i find these kinds of videos fascinating

  16. I sometimes go biblegateway.com to compare the 1599 Geneva Bible with footnotes to the King James bible. The footnotes of the 1599 Geneva Bible helps to explain the verses better for me. The 1599 Geneva Bible was used to create the King James bible and was the first bible in the Americas. I did enjoy your video.
